Wonderful weather this morning... we can finally look out of the window and admire the Lake Toya scenery.
The lady got here pretty early to set our breakfast. traditional japanese style breakfast. Have to admit the breakfast is not as good as the dinner.
Also the view from our window.
After breakfast, we checked out of the Ryokan and left our baggage with them. Decided to visit the fruit farm for some fruit picking this morning before we leave the area.
Group of teenagers, after some camping trip i reckon. Saw a couple of camp sites around the area. Miss those school camp days.
As the 100yen bus makes its rounds, we pass by Showa Shinzan of cos, and look at it, so now we've seen it sunny and rainy style.
Sun is scorching, but NO FRUITS! apparently the fruits are all PLUCKED, no more left for this season. HUH, WTH...
Not convinced, we went down the road in search of our apples and strawberries.
so take some pictures with sunflowers la.
and buy some fruits from the store, sit down and enjoy.
after which we went back to our Ryokan and had a little hand and foot onsen outside. There are a lot of these points dotted around the area. FOC
Thats the Ryokan we were staying at.
Most of the Ryokans are situated by the Lake. Here it is.
After those shots of the lake, we have 30mins for lunch before the bus arrives.
This is our lunch place. BBQ. Very nice meal, one of the best we had so far, the problem is, we were damn rushed for time. Had to gobble the good meal like nobody's business. a bit wasted.
after lunch had to run n run n run to pick up the baggage then run run run to the bus terminal. she very manly and asked me to go ahead without her. she will get her own luggage and catch up. in a manly tone. haha

see, still have time to take some photos..

we happen to catch another festival/celebration in Hokkaido. Port opening, 149th anniv.
for that, there's a pasar malam style thingy, and its just below our accomodation.
some typical stalls, fish catching etc
my hohhoh bought a HUGE stich for her sis, and played some game thats not very fun, and won the little anime character, whom we call xiao gua. Tried asking google, but still duno what this character is... see 2 circles in the picture?
the yukata worn here in Hakodate looks more casual compared to Sapporo, and the ladies are not as dressed up in their make-up and hairdo as well.
as part of the anniv celebration there's a chingay parade which lasted for HOURS!!! I mean it. HOURS...f cking never ends
only xiao gua still interested in the parade. crazy..

its a nice place by the sea, with couple of historic buildings (warehouses i suppose)...
these old buildings are turned into shopping areas. but theres not a lot of stuff to buy. just some souveneirs and kiddy things.
the town area of Hakodate is very small actually. some of the historical buildings
the highlight of Hakodate, the night view is splendid. the hourglass shape of the land adds to the special night sight
the bright white lights on the left are to attract squids.
see what i mean when i say the parade last FOREVER.
i was desparate for some seafood! because Hakodate is a fishing port! so we must have seafood. but sad to say its not as nice as i thought it should be.
after dinner, we made our way back slowly, and we were damn amazed by the ah beng ah lian culture!
the youth culture here in Hakodate is quite different from Sapporo or Tokyo. more ah beng style. Modified cars with loud music blasting away, people squatting around, and the fashion sense is a bit beng and lian also. very different from the tokyo fashion.
it would have been my kind of place 10 years ago haha
walking amidst the rowdy youth, i do feel a bit scared. haha.

im really quite a ramen person... yumm
