Japan Trip 2008 - Sapporo 31Jul08

Had our flight to Sapporo booked for 1.45pm. Checked out of hotel, went for ramen nearby, then slowly take the train to Haneda Airport. By couple of mins past one, we were already on the monorail. By 30 past one, we were still on the monorail. And we were supposed to check in 15mins before. Screwed big time cos I booked the discount rate at 20000yen which does not allow any change of time.
Run and run to the counter, showed the lady our email printout, she was a little shocked cos its already 145 when we reached. She was very kind though, there are a lot of things about Japanese that impressed me. This is one. Swift to make decision, went all out to help us. In the end we managed to catch the 2pm flight. That was close. We nearly wasted 40k yen.
And i think i lose a bit of weight running with my backpack, like running SOC, nightmare.

Finally on board, she asked for this kiddo thing.

One of ANA's fleet. Pokemon. Haha.

Train ride to Sapporo

Weather was ok. Cooling but it was drizzling a little when we arrived. Found our way to the Sunroute Hotel. She is the great navigator. I just follow.

The swimming pool in the basement. It comes together with the gym usage.

So we put down our baggage and headed out!

Honda Fit

Walked on to the Clock Tower, the building is of American design and is one of the few surviving Western style buildings in Sapporo

Very pleasing weather!

Nearby is the TV tower.

This is the base of the TV tower

Beer garden below the tower

There's a few summer events happening in Sapporo. Summer is short and well celebrated in Hokkaido.

Odori park

And then we found ourselves entering a lot of beer gardens, one after the other, all in the Odori Park. Almost all the domestic brands are represented and the crowd at each brand is very distinct. Suntory feels quite young. The songs are quite nice too.

Asahi feels more serious....

Kirin is the most happening. And they play English music. Crowd is young and happening, but we cannot find seats haha

Sapporo is the last beer garden, so we settled down here instead. Crowd is more mature.

TV tower lighted up

And then we walked to Susukino, the night scene of Sapporo, also the sleazy soapland district. The district is congested with many restaurants, bars, hotels, and adult-entertainment establishments...

We also went to the famous Ramen alley... No picture, batt flat.
